Silver Brothers Spirits Company is situated on a bucolic 220-acre farm in Old Chatham, New York. An active farm for over two hundred and fifty years, the property is also the original site of Shaker Museum (founded in 1950) as well as the Old Chatham Sheepherding Company.
In 2020 Silver Brothers Spirits Company was established with the intention of continuing the property’s agricultural traditions with a farm distillery dedicated to crafting whiskeys from grain grown on the property.
Born and raised in the Columbia County, NY hamlet of Spencertown, Silver Brothers founder Matthew Greitzer has always wanted to create something that reflects the region's inherent beauty. Columbia County’s agrarian past reveals that rye whiskey was historically produced in the region, but died out during Prohibition. With Silver Brothers, Matt has reimagined the local tradition of whiskey-making, emphasizing artisan ingredients and production methods.
